Back to History History Ottawa-Carleton Association for Persons with Developmental DisabilitiesIt's a mouthful, we know. The Ottawa-Carleton Association for Persons with Developmental Disabilities has been around since the 1950s, in one form or another. What started as parents pulling together to take care of their kids has turned into one of the province's largest disabilities organizations. The agency was built on the backs of parents-turned-activists trying to give their children the best lives they could. Since then, disabilities have evolved in definition, funding, culture, and truly everything. We wanted to create a place where people could access the rich history of the agency and follow the changes both the agency and province has seen in disability work over the years. Have a story to share? This project is ongoing and we'd love to hear about your experiences too. |
