It's hard to say what's left of Camp Echon. The camp catered to children and adults with developmental disabilities in at least the late 1970s and early '80s. Not a lot of people currently with the agency know about the camp, but a polaroid photo album documenting 1979-82 was chockfull of memories. A former director remembers having visited the camp with his family but not a lot else. In his memory, the camp acted mostly as respite for parents. The polaroids tell a different story of Camp Echon—one of mudslides, horseback riding, and summers spent in the sun with your friends.
