Community Support Services / SIL

The CSS and SIL programs, based in Ottawa and Cornwall, respectively, support adults with developmental disabilities who live in various community settings. These settings could include their own homes, emergency housing, supervised boarding homes, long-term care facilities or rooming houses.

Individuals accessing the CSS and SIL programs have support plans tailored to their level of need and preference; this includes the frequency of support provided. Some examples of areas of support are:

  • Shopping, meal planning, and preparation
  • Relationship building and fostering family and community connections
  • Home management and safety
  • Community mobility, including planning and accessing public transportation
  • Personal budgeting and linking to funding sources, such as ODSP and Passport funding
  • Promoting physical health and mental wellness
  • Accommodation planning and housing security
