Welcome to OCAPDD’s mandatory ACCESSIBILITY TRAINING for volunteers.
The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) was passed by the Ontario legislature with the goal of creating a barrier-free Ontario by 2025. The Accessibility Standards for Customer Service was the first standard that was developed and officially made law. It sets out specific and general requirements to ensure goods and services are provided in ways that are accessible to people with disabilities.
If you become a volunteer, you will be required to complete the Accessible Customer Service training. The training provides you with a general overview of the standards and how it applies to you as an OCAPDD volunteer.
You will also be asked to read the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (ISAR) training for Volunteers. This mandatory training is a follow up to the AODA Accessible Customer Service training which you should have already taken.
The AODA Committee has worked to develop nine (9) policies and procedures to comply with the legislation.
